So I am not an avid blogger and I tend to only have one blog per month, if that! Usually the reason behind my lack of blogging is the lack of interesting stuff going on in my life. Trust me...I wake up, go to work, come home from work, vegetate for a little bit, eat something, and then go to bed. Sometimes I go out...but the days seem far and in between to mention. So I won't! (: And then the strange cycle starts over again. Believe me I want to sound more interesting...but right now I am not! I will try to improve on that!
So Sunday was the big move to the duplex....GLORY HALLELUJAH! Two months of waiting seemed like two years. I don't know how many of you know the drama behind our new home's property management team...I will try to make it short. Because believe me I could go on and on and on. First, they never gave us a move in date when we gave them our security deposit. Finally when we did call, they couldn't give us a direct answer. Something about calling in work crews, contracting out, 50 properties to get through...BLAH BLAH BLAH. July 9th was the day we finally heard we can move in as soon as we give our first month's rent, which would be prorated of course. So we go in that Friday, give them our money, and then sign a ridiculous amount of paper work. Who has the time to read it all? We got our keys and starting the big move process on Sunday. I rented a UHAUL from Ferndale (yup, that's the one they gave me)...which by the way shouldn't be allowed on the road. Stellar alignment! Picked up Peder and we went out to Sudden Valley and picked up the remainder of my stuff, went to the grandparent's to pick up Kirsten's stuff which was there for storage, and then to the duplex. My legs felt like JELL-O and I couldn't feel my feet, but I am moved out. More property management drama...no garbage can. Michelle (roommate) calls them about it...they ultimately tell us they wrote our rental contract wrong...we should be paying for garbage. HELL NO! We signed...um...what did they call...A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT. We aren't that stupid. They call back later...and they saw they will cover it. I love Michelle's reaction when she said about their response..."like you are doing us a favor" by paying for it. When it was there mistake. And then there was the mail box key didn't work. So many wonderful things to say about them...and this is only day 5 of living there!
So here are some pics of us getting the place livable...HOME SWEET HOME!
